How to Feel Better During Coronavirus

The world is on pause because of Coronavirus.

Normal daily routines, social events, work, and even the stock market are all disrupted as we wait.

In the wake of this pause, people feel a wide range of emotions.

Fear. Disappointment. Uncertainty.  Stress. Stuck. Bored. Panic. Curious. Thankful. And more.

Most people feel a mix of all of these emotions.  I do.

It’s all fine.  It’s all normal.

Studies of psychology during epidemics show that all of these feelings are how people have felt in past epidemics.

Take a deep breath and feel whatever you’re feeling.  It’s okay to be disappointed.  Or irritated. Or at peace.

When we think we shouldn’t be feeling discouraged or disappointed or worried we add more negative emotion to what we’re feeling.

Life is richest when we allow ourselves to feel the full gamut of emotions.

It’s also empowering to know that ALL these feelings we’re feeling are optional.

It’s not Coronavirus causing your feelings.

It’s not the rising numbers of infected and dead, or your kids fighting all day, or the shelves empty of toilet paper that are making you feel terrible.

It’s YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT coronavirus and all these other circumstances that are creating your feelings.

Our thoughts drive our feelings.

They are all fine.

But what do you WANT to feel? It’s possible to feel that way.
